Kingston SSDNow V100 128 GB Benchmarks


Hello fellas !  I received a review unit of Kingston SSDNow V100 128GB.Installed Windows 7 on it,and tons of other programs/3rd party softwares.I am really impressed by it’s amazing speeds.The SSD is blazingly fast,Windows 7 installation took 12 minutes,it boots in 8 seconds,Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 installed in just 55-60 seconds.Same goes for Adobe Photoshop CS5.

ATTO.

It’s a very old,yet a very popular benchmarking tool.It is great for RAID HDD setups.The test was run with the default runs of 0.5kb through 8192kb transfer sizes while the total length being 256mb.

AS-SSD.

It is a comparatively new benchmarking tool,for the SSD’s.In fact,JUST for the SSD’s.It’s very simple to use,accurate,free,and has a screenshot feature too.

CrystalDiskMark 2.2

It’s a small,handy utility for measuring sequential and random read/write speeds.Supports only NCQ (Native Command Queuing),while it has a QD (Queue Depth) of 32 in it’s latest version.

HD Tune

is a hard disk utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive’s performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more.

Microsoft unveils Touch Mouse,for Windows 7 at CES

Microsoft has unveiled it’s Touch Mouse,for Windows 7,which  allows you to click, flick, scroll and swipe easily without the need for any buttons.This device has brought gesture control to even those who don’t have a touchscreen.The mouse is available for pre order and would be available by May 2011,for $80.It  supports different multi touch gestures,few of gestures shown in the video are pinch to zoom,flicks,panning.It also packs Microsoft’s BlueTrack technology, which means that it could work on carpets, wood, etc.The design looks sexy,and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

In the box you get a Microsoft Touch Mouse,USB nano transceiver(ahh no Bluetooth ! ) and 2 AAA alkaline batteries.

Play Angry Birds on your PC Now

Envied iphone users all because you couldn’t get to play Angry Birds,and neither you had Android to play it ? Well now you can play it on your PC ! w00t.The Rovio team has just released Angry Birds into the Intel AppUp store.

Angry Birds costs $9.99/£5.99/€7.99 to download in the Intel AppUp center. To purchase Angry Birds for Windows 7 and XP operating systems, head to www.appup.com, and get the Intel AppUp center.

For a limited time, Angry Birds will be available at the special promotional price of $4.99 in the Intel AppUp center.

The game initially includes 195 levels packed with hours and hours of gameplay. Customers can expect free updates and additional levels to the game. In addition to this, there will be unique enhancements not found in the mobile version, free of charge.

The sad part : Not for Mac OSX,and it may come for Ubuntu too,but till now it hasn’t 😦

Wallpaper changer indicator for Ubuntu

DesktopNova is a tray based tool which lets you change desktops from the panel.Similar to one that you have on Windows 7 (that right click thingy).This app is developed by Michael Otto.

How to get it ?


Add ppa:michael-astrapi/ppa to your software sources or open a terminal and run the following command: –
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:michael-astrapi/ppa
The following command will install the required app and indicator: –
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install desktopnova indicator-desktopnova


Next go to Accessories > DesktopNova. Select a folder full of wallpapers and enable the ‘GNOME 0.2′ module,shoot the save button and then ‘start daemon’ button.

Now go to Accessories>DesktopNova tray to start the app.
